Welcome to "Who Are You in Christ?"

Hi! This is a blog about how God sees us, about who we are in Christ. My purpose for this blog is to help followers of Christ come into greater understanding and revelation from God, about how He sees us.

I will be posting relevant Scriptures, and questions to ask God. The idea is to journal about this subject. You can write down a question listed, or make up one of your own, and ask God about it; then record in your journal what you sense He is saying to you. (Feel free to "copy and paste" the posts and print them out to use in your journaling. If you are not familiar with how to "copy and paste" here's how: Open a new document, such as Wordpad or Microsoft Word. Go back to the text to be copied and select (highlight) it with your mouse. Hold down "Ctrl" and press "C". Then click your cursor in the new document. Hold down "Ctrl" and press "V". The text will then appear, and you can print it out. You can then use the rest of the page for your journaling about the post.)

My plan is to have one main Scripture per week, about one aspect of how God sees us, and to post daily Scriptures and questions relevant to the topic and main Scripture of that week. For some aspects, there may be more than one week of Scriptures and questions. You may want to memorize the Scripture of the week, or any of the other Scriptures listed.

If you would like to share what God shows you about the various Scriptures and questions, feel free to do so in the comments.

I hope this journaling opportunity will bless you and take you deep into knowing the heart of God.

Note:
The titles of the posts will be going by the weeks of the year, based on Jan. 1, even though I'm starting the blog on Jan. 10. I'm planning to do 366 posts by Dec. 31. (The "Q1W1" labels will refer to Quarter 1 - Week 1, etc., and are for my own reference.)

The Christian life is not about how much we do, but it's relationship - so please let the Holy Spirit lead you in using this opportunity to dialogue with Him. The posts and questions are intended as "jumping off" points, to help you seek God's heart. He may lead you to spend several weeks on one aspect of who we are in Christ, or you might only feel drawn to journal on certain posts as the year goes along. I hope that readers will not be "legalistic" about keeping up with every post. Be free and enjoy discovering who you are in Christ!

Week 1 - #5 - New Mercies

Verses for today: Lamentations 3:22, 23. Ask God:

1. What new mercies do you have for me today?

2. How great is Your faithfulness to me?

Week 1 - #4 - A New Song

Today's verses are Psalm 40:3, Psalm 98:1, Psalm 77:6 (and related verses). As you consider these verses, ask God:

1. For Psalm 40:3 - What new song are You putting in my heart today?

2. For Psalm 98:1 - If you like, see also Psalm 96:1 and Isaiah 42:10
What marvelous things that You have done, would You like me to sing to You about today?

3. For Psalm 77:6 - If you like, see also Job 35:10, Psalm 42:8, and Isaiah 30:29
What songs have you given me in the "nights" in my life?
If you are currently going through a "night" season in your life, ask God - What song would You like to give me as I go through this time?
Will You assure me that You'll give me new songs in the night in the future?

Week 1 - #3 - A Renewed Mind

The Scriptures for today are Ephesians 4:22 and Romans 12:2. As you read these verses, ask God:

1. How do You want my thinking to be new today?

2. How would You like me to co-operate with You in the renewing of my mind?

Week 1 - #2 - New Things

Today's Scriptures are Isaiah 42:9 and Isaiah 43:18, 19. As you consider these Scriptures, ask God:

1. What new thing (or things) do You want to do in my life this year?

2. What new thing do You want to do in my life today?

Week 1 - #1 - We Are Made New

Main Scripture for this week, as well as today's Scripture:
II Corinthians 5:17

For the first week, we will be looking at the fact that God has made us to be new creatures/creations in Him. In pondering II Corinthians 5:17, ask God:

1. What things that have been a part of my life before submitting to Christ, have now passed away?

2. What things in my life have become new?
